Cookie ClickerHotExhibit of Sorrows is a short psychological horror game created by indie developer Maxim Tsai. Set inside a disturbing circus-themed museum, the game combines point-and-click puzzles with unsettling storytelling. What begins as a strange attraction slowly transforms into a nightmare filled with fear, guilt, and psychological tension.
Exhibit of Sorrows places players inside the mysterious “Exhibit of Smiles,” a carnival-style attraction filled with creepy clown dolls and interactive displays. At first, the exhibits appear harmless and playful. Players interact with strange characters like Mr. Floaty, Mr. Washy, Ms. Stretch, and Mr. Handy to collect keys and progress deeper into the museum.
As the game continues, the atmosphere changes dramatically. Lights flicker, music becomes distorted, and the smiling clown overseeing the exhibit grows increasingly sinister. The puzzles themselves also become more disturbing, forcing players to perform cruel actions against the exhibits in order to escape. Instead of relying heavily on jump scares, the horror comes from psychological discomfort and the feeling that every action is morally wrong.
The game is short—usually lasting around 5 to 15 minutes—but its unsettling presentation and narrative twists leave a strong impression. The looping structure of the museum, combined with environmental changes and hidden lore, encourages careful observation throughout the experience.
